CICC has developed a unique business model to ensure the success and sustainability of the organization. This provides our members with the comfort of knowing they’re part of something that will provide them with long-term benefit and sustainable relationships in the business community. Utilizing a strategy of networking and partnering with existing chambers of commerce makes sense. The national board of directors of CICC is assisting local Muslim business groups to form formal chamber chapters, under the national Canadian Islamic Chamber of Commerce umbrella, and the partnering with local mainstream chambers. This facilitates networking at two levels, so that several years into the future we will achieve: (1) The formation of a true national muslim business network (CICC) with local chapters throughout the country, and (2) full integration of the Muslim chamber movement with the mainstream chamber movement. The first local chapter of CICC was formed in Winnipeg in 2009. On May 20, 2010, a press conference was held announcing that a formal partnership agreement had been signed which would allow the two organizations, and their members, to work more closely. This type of arrangement is ground-breaking and is the first time in Canada that two chambers have partnered in this way. Under the agreement, members of CICC automatically receive full membership in WCC without additional cost. Members of WCC may become affiliate members of CICC-Winnipeg for a nominal fee. After evaluating the success of this first partnership, CICC is hoping to work the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, and other local chambers, to set up similar arrangements in other Canadian cities under the CICC umbrella.
The Canadian Islamic Chamber of Commerce (CICC) is a not for profit organization started with the goal of uniting and networking Muslim businesses.
